Lopez will be the featured speaker at an information session on Veterans Benefits, March 21 at 6 p.m. at Park Merced Assisted Living, 3050 M St., Merced. The free event, “Veterans’ Aid & Attendance Benefit Overview,” is sponsored by Amie Marchini Senior Care and the public is encouraged to attend.

The Veteran’s Aid and Attendance Pension provides benefits to veterans and their spouses to help pay for the costs of care – both assisted living and in-home care. Lopez works with veterans’ families who were not aware of the benefit or may be frustrated with the claims process and miss out on significant financial support. “Theresa is so knowledgeable and has helped many veterans and their families successfully navigate the claims process,” said Amie Marchini, CEO of Amie Marchini Senior Care. “This is a great opportunity for veterans and their families to come find out more about the benefits they may be eligible for that could help pay for their senior care.”

Veterans benefits provide those who have served their country, as well as their spouses, financial assistance during their retirement years. Veterans who are at least 65 years old and who served during war time, though not necessarily in actual combat, may be eligible for financial assistance through the Department of Veteran Affairs that can be used to help pay for care. Spouses and surviving spouses of wartime veterans are also often eligible. Veterans and their families may not be aware of what they are eligible to receive or may not have had success at receiving their full benefits.
